Final Scream

Oil on Canvas

48 x 36”

2020

The last piece in my skeletal series. A year long obsession, an anxious habit, used against itself, to eradicate itself.

During 2019, I spent an extended period of time creating oil paintings of skeletons. I considered them to be an exploration of the substance and structure of a human being: a skeleton is what gives a human structure, and by studying the skeleton I could better understand how the substance of a human grew from this structure. The project quickly became more of a source of comfort than of actual artistic exploration, leading to its amalgamation in the work Final Scream.
